Self and Things
All the myriad things are neither opposed to nor contrary to your true self. Directly pass through to freedom and they make one whole. It has been this way from without beginning. The only problem is when people put themselves in opposition to it and spurn it and impose orientations of grasping or rejecting, creating a concern where there is none. This is precisely why they are not joyfully alive.
The Secret Seal
Here with me there is no Zen to explain and no way to convey. Although there are five hundred people dressed in patches gathered here, I only use the diamond trap and the thorn thicket. Whoever jumps out of the diamond trap makes an effort to jump out; whoever swallows the thicket of thorns swallows it with caution. Don't be surprised that they have no taste or that they are dangerous and steep. When you suddenly come to the realization, it is like returning to your home village dressed in brocade in broad daylight: everyone will look up at you in admiration.
Essentially, you can't figure out where it comes from: it's called the basic matter that's inherent in everyone. As soon as you consciously accept it or want to take it upon yourself, this is no longer the essence. Just let the countless impulses stop, so that not even the thousand wise ones accompany you. Then how could there still be a dependency? You should immediately put everything aside and advance to freedom on this side.
